Map the exposure
Distance from the sea, prevailing wind, humidity, salt deposition and maintenance access all influence risk. Hotels, apartments and retail projects may also have different cleaning and service routines.
Ask what is actually treated
Request a component-level description covering the heat exchanger, cabinet, base pan, fasteners and protected electrical areas. Confirm whether the treatment is standard or an option for the quoted model.
Request traceable evidence
Where a test report or coating specification is offered, check that it relates to the selected material or model configuration. Record any limits, test method and maintenance requirements in the project file.
Installation still matters
Drainage, clearances, isolation from dissimilar metals and access for cleaning can affect long-term performance. Align the equipment selection with local installer practice and an agreed maintenance plan.
Write the requirement into the order
List the coastal configuration, affected components, packaging protection, spare parts and document set in the quotation and purchase order. This creates a clearer acceptance basis than a generic brochure statement.
